Colombia is aging. In 2022, 14 in every 100 Colombians are over 60 years old, while in 1985, that proportion was 7, and in 2014 it was 10. This phenomenon occurs across Latin America and the Caribbean, where people have longer lifespans but also face increased loneliness.
Conducted by Fundación Saldarriaga Concha, Fedesarrollo, PROESA, and DANE, ‘Misión Colombia Envejece – Una Investigación Viva’ analyzes the impacts of demographic change on health, education, pension, and labor systems, among others. This research aims to reshape society’s perception of old age and tap into the potential of older individuals to contribute to the country’s development.
